Who says holiday breakfasts have to be rich and heavy? Why not try a healthy alternative that will keep you full of energy? After all, you’ll need all the energy you can get to make it through these hectic weeks!

Plus, the eggnog and candy cane pieces in this recipe are sure to get you in the holiday spirit!

Prep time: 5 minutes

Ingredients

Oatmeal
✔  60 ml (¼ cup) quick-cooking rolled oats
✔  15 ml (1 tbsp.) chia seeds
✔  60 ml (¼ cup) Greek yogurt, vanilla flavoured
✔  125 ml (½ cup) store-bought or homemade eggnog
✔  1 ml (¼ tsp.) cinnamon
✔  60 ml (¼ cup) dried cranberries

Topping
✔  15 ml (1 tbsp.) chopped pecans
✔  10 ml (2 tsp.) crushed candy canes

Preparation
1.  Mix all the ingredients for the oatmeal in a Mason jar. Refrigerate overnight.
2. In the morning, mix the oatmeal. Add a splash of milk if needed. Top with pecans and candies.

Overnight oats are usually eaten cold, but why not try heating them up? This recipe will be just as tasty, and the texture will be even smoother! To get the most out of this comforting breakfast, simply heat your jar of oatmeal in the microwave for about 30 seconds.
