Laurence and Gabrielle have been training together for almost a year. When they started this routine, they had no idea how much they would love it!

“It’s so much more fun to train together! You’re more motivated, have more fun and can see your friend more often!” says Laurence. Sometimes, the two girls even take the time to chat (It’s important to have a little bit of fun, too!) 

For Laurence and Gabrielle, having a training partner has been the key to keeping motivated and going to the gym more often. To help them – and everyone in the same situation – we created a list of 5 exercises to do with your gym buddy!

  1. BUDDY UP FOR YOUR BENCH PRESSES!

     

    Training alone on the bench press can sometimes be intimidating. It can even stop your training progress. Working out as a team is more useful, as the other person can spot you

    So, your partner’s role is to ensure your safety by taking hold of the bar when you are no longer able to pull it up.

     

  2. TAKE TURNS DOING YOUR “SUPERSETS!”

     

    You don’t want to someone to take over your machine during your “supersets?” It’s easy, just take turns with your partner!

    Sit at one device and ask your friend to sit at the other. You each do your set on your machine. Then, switch machines and do your other set.
    After a short break, start over!

     

  3. TRANSFER YOUR WEIGHT TOGETHER!


    This exercise is simple, effective and fun! Place yourself in “chair position” or sit on the floor. Choose a weight or kettle bell and pass it to each other by twisting your trunk.

    Don’t forget to change direction to ensure you work both sides. You can even try to follow the beat of your favourite song (it could make for a great TikTok video).

     

  4. DUO CARDIO!


    There are so many ways to do cardio with a partner! 
    At the gym, you can simply walk on a mat side by side, sharing your latest experiences. Don’t underestimate the effect of a good walk on your physical and mental well-being.

    You can also join a STATIONARY BIKE workout session with your favourite coach.
    And if you want to get your heart pumping, how about a friendly challenge? Do a short run on the treadmill or bike, increase the incline of your treadmill for the last 5 minutes, climb as many steps as possible on the stair climber or cover the longest distance you can on the rowing machine.Your heart rate will increase, guaranteed!

     

  5. STRETCH TOGETHER!


    Stretching isn’t always fun. Some positions can be uncomfortable. Others can be harder to maintain, especially when done alone.

 

Stretching in pairs makes it easier and more enjoyable. Your body will thank you!
