5 TRAINING TRENDS TO LOOK OUT FOR IN 2023

Presented by:

The Éconofitness training team did some digging to find the newest and most popular ways to train in the coming year.

These trends reflect a society looking to slow down a bit, be kind to ourselves, and take a more relaxed approach to daily life. A pleasant return to the basics that allows us to regroup and rediscover ourselves... one workout at a time!

🚶 1 - BACK TO LOW-INTENSITY TRAINING!
Workouts don’t have to be difficult, strenuous, or painful to be effective. If you're someone who gets discouraged by high-intensity training, you'll be happy to know that low-intensity training is growing in popularity.

Yes, your workout can still be effective even if you don’t feel like dying at the end of it! The famous saying “No Pain, No Gain” is so untrue!

Of course, if you enjoy more intense workouts, that’s great. Keep it up! But if this type of training is holding you back and hindering your motivation, then consider going back to the training basics.

During the pandemic, you may have discovered how beneficial a simple walk can be for your body and mind. So, imagine how much a Zumba class, where you spend an hour dancing and having fun, can do for your well-being.

The same thing goes for weight training: go at your own pace! You don’t have to feel your whole body straining during a strength training session for it to be beneficial. Remember, the most important thing is to be active every day.

⏱ 2 - YES TO MINI-WORKOUTS!
Believe us, taking 5, 10, or 15 minutes to be active will do you a world of good! Did you know that the Éconofitness YouTube channel is full of workouts that are under 30 minutes? So, you can fit in a quick workout at the gym or from the comfort of your own home.

You might feel like you don’t have enough time in your day, which is why you don’t train as often as you’d like. If you think a workout needs to last a minimum of 60 minutes, it’s normal to have trouble finding time to do it.

The 30-Minute Express Circuit at Éconofitness is a worthwhile training option! It provides a complete workout in only half an hour. It includes an 8-minute warm-up, a 12-minute strength training session, and a 10-minute cardio workout. And you’re done!

If you have less than 30 minutes to devote to working out, just take 5 minutes a few times a day to get moving... You don’t even need to get changed! Remember that taking even just 5 minutes to work out is 5 minutes more than not working out at all. Think about it. It’s worth it!

🤹 3 - FUNCTIONALITY TAKES CENTRE STAGE!
Your primary training goal may be to make your everyday life easier and more enjoyable. For example, you may want to be less out of breath when playing sports with friends or strong enough to carry your groceries. This is exactly why functional exercises are making a comeback.

So, consider including exercises that resemble everyday movements in your workouts. Don’t forget to add exercises that challenge your balance and coordination, while respecting your limits. Just make sure to listen to your body... You’re not in the Cirque du Soleil, after all! 😉

👥 4 - GROUP CLASSES ARE MORE POPULAR THAN EVER!
Why is it that group classes never go out of style? Because they change over time. They’re constantly evolving and adapting, day after day, to give people what they want! Participants report that their energy levels soar when they take these classes, which helps them maintain their motivation in the longer term.

When you think of group classes, stop imagining old videos from the 80s! Today’s group classes are real workouts created and taught by fitness professionals. That’s why our members like them so much!

Group classes allow you to train under the supervision of certified coaches. They are present throughout the class to guide you and help you perfect your technique. This allows you to work out more safely, especially when you’re new to working out.

There’s a vast array of choices when it comes to choosing a group class: cardio, weight training, dance (Zumba enthusiasts will be pleased), yoga, high intensity, low impact, etc. Éconofitness Extra members will agree, it’s really easy to vary your workouts over time with group classes!

🧘 5 - THERE’S MORE ROOM FOR RECOVERY!
Recovery is in vogue in the fitness world. We’re sure that this trend will be of interest to many! Recovery is just as important as training for overall health. There’s a reason why the Platinum Zone is so popular at all our Éconofitness gyms.

Take time to care for your body and mind. To balance out your workout routine, enjoy flexibility and yoga workouts at Extra gyms or on our YouTube channel.

If you find it difficult to find time for recovery sessions, schedule them in your calendar at the same time as you schedule your workouts.
