Start the year off right with this great recipe! These puffed cereal squares are great snacks to enjoy before your workout. Rich in simple carbohydrates and protein, these treats are sure to fill you with energy! What better way to motivate yourself to get back into your exercise routine?

Servings: 16
Prep Time: 5 minutes
Cook Time: 10 minutes

Ingredients
✔  180 ml (¾ cup) creamy peanut butter
✔  1 scoop (35 g) protein powder
✔  5 ml (1 teaspoon) vanilla extract
✔  1.5 L (6 cups) marshmallows
✔  1 L (4 cups) puffed rice cereal (e.g., Rice Krispies)

Preparation
1. First, grease a 20 x 20 cm (8 x 8 in) square pan.
2. Melt peanut butter in a large saucepan over low heat. Add protein powder and vanilla extract and mix well.
3. Add marshmallows to mixture. Melt and remove from heat.
4. Add Rice Krispies cereal. Mix gently to coat each piece of cereal.
5. Transfer to the square pan. Press lightly with the back of a wooden spoon. Let cool for at least 1 hour before cutting into portions.

Let the marshmallows melt over low heat! Yes, you’ll have to be patient, but it will be worth the wait. Also, when the squares are ready, it’s important to store them in an airtight container. However, after a few days, the treats will inevitably harden. In this case, if they haven't already been eaten, you can simply warm them up in the microwave for 5 to 10 seconds to soften them.
